Levodopa is a precursor substance of dopamine, and it is an internationally used drug name. Different manufacturers have different trade names when the drugs are on the market. Oral levodopa tablets generally disintegrate and melt in the stomach, then discharge to the duodenum, and then reach the small intestine, where they are absorbed into the blood at the upper end of the small intestine, and a small amount of levodopa can eventually enter the brain through the "blood-brain barrier". It is taken up by the substantia nigra nerve cells or other nerve cells, and under the action of dopa decarboxylase, it removes a carboxyl group and becomes dopamine, thereby supplementing dopamine in the brain and reducing the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
Levodopa can treat Parkinson's disease and Parkinson's syndrome; treat hepatic coma, improve central function, make the patient awake, and improve symptoms; promote sleep and reduce fat; increase bone density and reverse osteoporosis; increase muscle strength and strengthen ability.
1. Levodopa is currently one of the effective drugs for the treatment of paralysis agitans. It is one of the precursors for the synthesis of norepinephrine and dopamine in the body and belongs to catecholamines. Levodopa can enter the brain through the blood-brain barrier and be converted into dopamine by Thomas decarboxylase. However, the effect is slower and side effects are greater. Rat oral LD50>4000mg/kg.
2. Effective drugs for the treatment of paralysis agitans, mainly used for Parkinson's syndrome and so on.
